This approach can be described as Assimilative Integration.  It balances the revelatory and resitrictive functions of psychotherapeutic theories by emphasizing both the value of home theory and the usefulness of concenpts and methods from outside that theory.

Stephen H. Chou, PsyD: "The Psychosocial Development of Gifted Children" (July 7,  2011)
The socioemotional development of gifted children is beautifully complex.  Numerous well-accepted concepts within the gifted field have been noted, including, but not limited to, those of asynchronous development, emotional needs, motivations and drives, and overexcitabilities (OE's).  This presentation posits a theory of the psychosocial development of gifted children that will incorporate the myriad socioemotional concepts in the field of giftedness within an Ericksonian framework to help guide parents, teachers, and clinicians with gifted children's optimal growth and development.

This workshop presented a comprehensive psychodynamic theroy of S/M that can be used to inform and guide therapy with individuals and couples whose lifestyles involve sadomasochism, dominance and submission, sexual fetishes, eroticized role-playing and other expressions of BDSM.

This presentation focused on the role of the therapist in helping  families reduce childhood obesity.  It will explore common barriers to weight loss, as well as effective strategies to improve young people's health.

Susan Berger, MFT: "Affairs to Remember: A Contemporary Psychoanalytic Approach to Couples Therapy" (March 4,  2011)
The presenter shares from her experience of working with over 70 couples and individuals involved in some aspect of an affair using a relational approach.  The discussion includes common character and interpersonal dynamics that arise in couples work as well as the impact of culture, class and sexual orientation.  Additionally, explanation is given on the dynamics of working with individuals currently involved in an undisclosed affair.  At the end of the presentation, participants learn how contemporary psychoanalytic theory can be applied to couples therapy.

Michael Basta, LCSW & Marcia J. Gomez, LCSW: "The Practice of Gottman Method Couples Therapy" (January,  2011)
Dr. John Gottman has studied couples dynamics for almost 40 years involving over 3000 couples. His research findings regarding the prediction of relationship failure has been seen as revolutionary in the field of couples therapy. Dr. Gottman and his wife, Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman, developed the Sound Relationship House Theory, from these research findings regarding the factors associated with successful relationships and those that predict relationship deterioration . The Sound Relationship House Theory is the basis for both the Art and Science of Love Workshop curriculum and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The presenters review the research findings, explain the theory, and the fundamentals of the Gottman Method.

This presentation discussed the systemic relationship between the after effects of slavery on both Blacks and Whites.  The presentation points out that the legacy of slavery not only lives on for Blacks, but also for Whites and creates a realtionship dynamic between the two groups.
